1. Administration on all levels shall be supportive and only be
directive in terms of ensuring resource deployment to the advantage
of the majority of the students or to those with greatest need.

2. Administration is responsible to see that all efforts are made
to support the goals and objectives as identified by the Education
Authority.

3. Education issues shall be addressed and resolved by administration
in a timely manner and resulting action with a written report(s)
to the Director of Education.

4. Free and open channels of communications shall be maintained
throughout the Education Authority.

5. Programs evaluation, program development and implementation shall
receive major emphasis.

AUTHORITY
The Director of Education acts as the Chief Executive Officer
of the Cross Lake Education Authority.

PUPROSE
The Director of Education acts as the Chief Executive Officer
of the Cross Lake Education Authority.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBLITIES
1. To co-ordinate and manage all aspects of the operation of the
Cross Lake Education Authority including education, finances and
physical facilities through senior personnel such as Assistant Director
of Education, Principal, Financial Administrator Officer and Maintenance
Supervisor.

3. To attend meetings of the Cross Lake Education Authority. To
provide resource information and advice required. To advise the
Education Authority on new educational programs and to keep the
Education Authority members informed concerning the operation of
the education system.
4. To direct all required research and planning.
5. To recommend, to the Education Authority, all appointments, promotions,
suspensions, demotions, transfer of dismissals of employee in accordance
with Education Authority policy.
6. To give direction to the Assistant Director, Principal, Financial
Administration Officer and Maintenance Supervisor and through them
the entire Education Authority staff.

and relevant school program for all students of the Cross Lake First

c). Requested reports and an annual report.

Assistant Director |
AUTHORITY
The Assistant Director provides administrative assistance to the
Director of Education.
|
PURPOSE
The Assistant Director prepares and co-ordinates public relations
and information activities within the Education Authority and
between the Education Authority and other agencies. The Assistant
Director is administratively responsible for designated programs.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBLITIES
1. To prepare a regularly scheduled Education Authority newsletter
for distribution to staff, Education Authority members, Band Council
and parents.
2. To prepare an annual report of the Education Authority's activities
for distribution to staff, Education Auhtority members, Band Council
and parents.
3. To conduct background research and perpare reports for the Director
of Education as requested.
4. To prepare and distribute reports and information from the Director
of Education as requested.
5. a) To operate and/or receive proposals for Education Authority
policies and procedures, to draft such proposals and submit to the
Director of Education.
b) To maintain in a current state, in the Education Authority policy
and procedures manual, all policies formally adopted, and distribute
such policies to designated personnel within the Education Authority.
c) To maintain in a current state, the Education Authority's policy
and procedures manual, the approved organizational structure of
the Education Authority which will include the function, responsiblities,
authority and the relationship of each official. such policies to
designated personnel within the Education Authority.
6. To supervise and make administrative arrangements for the following
programs or activities:
a) Post Secondary Programs
b) Student Teaching
c) Teacher Recruitment
7. To be responsible for the co-ordination and administration of
school construction programs when requested to do so.
8. To organize, chair and/or attend special puprose meetings as
requested by the Director of Education.
9. To perform other related duties as assigned.

Amended: July 25, 2003 Subject: Authority Negotiation and Signing
of Agreement |
1. The negotiation and signing of all agreements affecting the Education
Authority shall be the responsibility of the Education Authority.
2. The Education Authority may delegate, by formal motion, the signing
of designated contracts and agreements to the Director of Education
and/or the Financial Administrator.
3. No agreement affecting the Education Authority shall be valid
without the signature of the quorum of the Education Authority or
the Director and/or the Financial Administrator (i.e. as other than
Band financial agreements).
4. No negotiations affecting the Education Authority shall be valid
without the quorum of the Educaton Authority.

1. The School Administartors are selected by the Directors and the
Eduction Authority.
2. The School Administartors shall be responsible to the Directors
for the assignment of duties to members of their teaching staff
and support staff, for the supervision of the instructional program
for the preparation of the school budget and control of expenditures,
for maintaining harmonious relationships with the community, the
staff and the students attending the school (refer to attached job
descriptions).

Duties and Responsibilities
• To establish and maintain an educational program
consistent with the goals of the schools and the Education Authority
• To be generally responsible for the welfare of students
while they are under the school's juristiction
• To maintain communication with the parent-teacher
committee and the community at large
• To operate the school in accordance with existing
laws and regulations and in accordance with Education Authority
policies
• To keep the Directors' fully advised as the conditions
and needs of the school and to submit reports on student and staff
attendance, examinations, promotions and other matters required
• To evaluate the efficiency of each staff member,
including educational assistants and to forward reports to the
Director of Education
• To give instructions to staff members in the school
• To hold regular staff meetings as outlined in the
school calendar for the purpose of discussing educational and
administrative matters
• To attend meetings called by the Director of Education
• To be on duty at the school during the week preceding
the school year in accordance with the plans of the Education
Authority
• To be responsible for the proper registration of
students and for the maintenance of up-to-date cumulative records.
It shall be the principal's responsility to see that a transcript
of the student's records are forwarded when the student(s) transfers
to another school and the original cumulative record files within
the school
• To be responsible for activities conducted by the
student organizations of the school, provided that such activities
are sponsored by the school staff and the vice principal
• To be responsible for administration of a system
of accounting for all monies from student activities, fees, fines,
etc. or from other funds belonging to the school or the student
body. To be responsible for the safe keeping of all such monies
belonging to the school
• To be responsible for taking all reasonable precautions
to safeguard the health and general well-being of the staff and
the students in the school. To this end, to see that all students
and staff are adequately trained to make effective, any plans
necessary for their safety
• To make provisions for the supervision of the school
and the playgrounds according to approved practices and the policies
during school hours and such times as school sponored activities
are held
• To inspect school buildings and grounds to see that
they are free from hazards which might cause accidents and shall
notify the proper authorities. Where damage is serious and appears
to have been deliberate, to report to the police
• To be responsible for seeing that all rules and regulations
with respect to fire prevention and safety are carried out that
all personnel are familiar with instructions related to fire alarms,
fire drills and fire extinguishers. First aid kits are to provide
where needed and kept properly supplied
• To be responsible for the work of the non-professional
staff employed in the school, including educational assistants,
and school secretaries
• To report to the Director's unusual occurrences and
irregularities, especially those related to the conduct of the
students, truancy, attendance, etc.
• To endeavor, by means of notices and meetings, to
ensure that the parents of the children attending school are consulted
and informed, as necessary, about school program and administrative
practices particularly with regard to students discipline and
reporting on student achievement
